           Congratulations on birth of your website,   As your Website up and live, its time now to dress up your website to make it attractive and presentable than question is how to change theme in WordPress .

The first post which is automatically generated by WordPress looks  like :

This kind of look seems to be dull and unattractive.  We can add theme to make it attractive and presentable.

The Tons of Themes available on web , which can divided in two major categories;

1. FREE THEMES - Themes which we  get free of cost. Good for beginners.

2. PREMIUM THEMES  - You have to pay for getting these themes. Good for premium users, as they provide some premium looks.

The Points which one should consider while choosing a theme for website;

1. DESIGN - The Design and color scheme of the theme should be suited to the Topic, It should be Neat ( Less cluttering ) Looking and look attractive to provide good feel to users.

2. THEME CURATOR - Themes created by experienced programmers are less prone to glitches or problems. Bad coded themes brings bad experience to users.

3. THEME RESPONSIVENESS - Since the website are see on different formats screen that is Desktop, Tablets, Mobiles.  Website to be responsive to the display screen  of the devices. Thus selection should be for a responsive theme.

4. SEO READY - Since searchability of the webite is largely driven by search engines, it becomes very important that website is discoverable by search engines. Hence should be optimised for SEO ( Search Engine Optimisation).

5. THEME SUPPORT - This is specially necessary if one is buying a premium Theme.

Suggestions :  It is better you give a Trial and Error method to check which themes  ( Obviously from FREE THEMES) to have a feel  which themes suits to your requirement and looks pleasing.

HOW TO INSTALL PLUGINS IN WORDPRESS  -Adding necessary tools.

( recommended WordPress Plugins ) . 

 Essential plugins for every blog

PLUGINS are the tools  ( Short applications for Predefined function) , used to add the functionality of your website. As a layman - it could be something similar to having various apps on your smartphone.

In wordpress website, it is very easy to add plugins, and infact there are tons of plugins available. WordPress.org itself has 50K + plugins presently.  Don’t worry !  we are not going to use them all.

For the beginner I am listing below Some ESSENTIAL Plugins, we should have on our website.

1. AKISMET  :  This plugins help to filter spams. You as user can moderate the comments on your Website / Blog.

2. YOAST SEO : This plugin helps to optimise content in your website. This optimisation helps to rank  website higher in the search results of Google , Bing or other search engines. Will explore on this plugin in a later post.

3. BACKUPWORDPRESS : This Plugin helps to backup your blog, it can be scheduled as required by you.

4. JETPACK : It is a plugin by wordpress, helps to manage blog. It  helps to protect your website from unauthorised logins / attacks.

5. GOOGLE XML SITEMAPS : This plugins provides complete XML sitemap [ A Sitemap is an XML ( Extensible Markup Language ) file that lists the URLs for a site ]. With this plugin installed search engines can easily navigate on our blog. This improves ranking in search results.

6. W3 TOTAL CACHE : This plugin helps improve performance of Website/ blog. The plugin caches all repetitive files, which helps reducing loading time and save on hosting bandwidth also.

7. SOCIAL MEDIA SHARE ICONS : Many Plugin available, which helps put links on your blog, to enable readers share the Liked content on Social  Media, which helps bring traffic to your site.

8.  ARCHIVES :  This plugin  helps you display archives of your posts.

How to Optimize Website for SEO

Configure YOAST SEO for your website

Importance of  SEO 

So finally we have reached  our final goal. SEO compatible theme is making your website look presentable. Plugin  YOAST SEO is already INSTALLED  and ACTIVATED. Now the point How to Optimize Website for SEO, needs to be attended.

We have now to configure Yoast SEO on our website to have SEO  support in action.

Why is SEO so critical for our Website  or Blog ?  Well , in layman terms, SEO helps promote the visibility of the  website in eyes of Search Engines. Which helps website to Rank higher in search Results, in turn improving visibility of your website to audience.

Additional Reference ( a bit detailed  one – on Moz.com ) but  very useful,  can be read on SEO GUIDE for Beginners.

Now coming back to our final stage;

Configuring YOAST SEO;

After Login into website when you go to WordPress Dashboard, menu SEO is visible on the sidebar.

Enter Required details and save changes,

In order to get the Verification code / Meta Value of your website  Click Here ,   Sign in with your Gmail account, if you are not already logged in.

After Logging in , Required to add property,  It is your Website to be added  here;

When you click ADD PROPERTY following screen pops up,  We have to use alternate method  instead of HTML File, click on  drop  arrow.

Following screen will come;

With  clicked verify, we have added  Google Webmaster tools in ore website , which helps us get insights of our website.

Now moving on to configure Yoast SEO;

In SEO at Dashboard, at General Tab , we Click on Configuration Wizard.

POP UPWINDOW WITH A CODE will appear. Select  and  Copy that Code

PERMALINK  SETTINGS -   This setting is aimed to make your blog post title become  part of the post URL.

Go to WordPress  Dashboard  , bring cursor over  Settings and  click on PERMALINKS,

KUDOS…..  we have done it !!

We have got our website fixed for action.

WHAT THE VIEWER PERCEIVE IN THE SHOT WHILE VIEWING IT…..
