Suggestions

1. Depending on the topic of Interest we can choose a domain name which is relevant to our topic, by using “namecheap” or “godaddy”.

2. Try keeping the domain name short, which is easy to remember.

3. It should be preferably without any “-” or “.” or any symbol/ numbers.

4. Preferable suffix “ .com”, as it is most popular.

5. One additional effort you have to do - Little more brain exercise to select some more alternatives  for domain name, because it is possible that our first preferred name is already taken up  by somebody else.

 I  found Godaddy  provides  suggestion on alternates of possible combination with synonyms or words , similar to your initially  searched domain name, if it is already taken.

In my opinion, domain registration should be done separately, instead of going with free registration at Hosting site, As it is cheaper in long run.

Points to consider while Choosing  Registrar

1. Price of registration and Offers ; Compare different pricing offers, and choose which is most compatible to your requirement.

2. Customer Support; offering prompt customer support this is crucial.

3. What includes in Offer, Like Data Space, Email Service,other features.

4. Service Quality like speed, up time, etc,

5. Additional Security features offered,  Like SSL Certificates.

We need to keep an eye on certain extras, don’t just go by the advertised Offer price

few things to note are;

1. Pricing Add-ons

Some domain registrars will have  add on  fees just as you’re about to purchase your domain name. The most common added fees are WHOIS registration and privacy protection. Take care, when you see a domain being advertised for a super cheap price this might not always be the final price. Privacy Protection can be purchased if ownership details ( your details &  Email detail)  need to keep hidden from public display.

 

 Final Preparation for Hosting and site working;

Once you have a domain name in your possession there are certain things you’re going to need to do to get your site up and running, like;

A]   Setting up the DNS servers  DNS servers details has to updated with the domain registrar ( if hosting is done with service other than Domain Registrar ).

B]    Installing a CMS ( Content Management System )  such as WordPress.   and

C]    Creating  associated email addresses if required.
