Moore’s Law and Digital Marketing

Moore's Law & Digital Marketing

MOORE'S LAW

Intel co-founder Gordon Moore wrote a paper in 1965, mentioning number of transistors per sq inch in Circuit Doubled every year since the Moore's Law & Digital Marketing  invention of  IC.  Later Mr. Moore revised his observation ( Law ) saying that Number of transistors on a chip would double every Eighteen months. Which has held pretty much true till 2013 / 2014,  when the annual rate of CPU transistor-count increase started to gradually  slow down.

WHAT IT MEANS

that technology innovation  continue speed up of computing processes. The effect is that the computational power DOUBLES and the COSTS  are cut in half every eighteen months. Computation power doubles,  Size of Devices reduce and also the Prices of devices.

EFFECTS

we have seen with every passing  year technology has seen unprecedented positive changes.. Technology getting more advance and cheaper over time, this kind of growth and positive change in unseen in traditional economic business models. With the accessibility to devices increases, users increase, Mobile Phone devices leading the change.

OUTCOMES

Moore's Law lays a guidance on foundation which is driving efforts for incredible innovations and changes. When the Technological growth is at such a faster pace, the effects of growth are visible more widely, not only visible in the infrastructure / hardware  but also the creativity  aspects. THINK OF SOMETHING INTERESTINGLY CREATIVE AND YOU GET THE APPLICATION AS YOU HAVE HARDWARE TO RUN THAT APPLICATION / PROCESS.  Facebook Leading the  pack,  followed by Linkedin and  Twitter. Photo rich sites started gaining ground.

EXAMPLE

GOOGLE which has dominated the Internet world predominantly  and provides much of its services for FREE in part by being able to exploit Moore's Law. We have free emails, Powerful search engines, Earth Maps etc, Thanks to  the revenues  generating with the digital marketing.

One example I would like to specially Quote is the example of I-PHONE  by  Apple, The fast pace  technological  advancement in hardware helped Apple co. to create I-PHONE and  Replaced older models with newer versions at very short Period gaps.  Not only the I-PHONE as devices got improved, but also offered new apps  and  faster capabilities for  processing  complex programs like  games etc

PRESENT and  FUTURE

Technicians are now facing bottlenecks  to accomodate  more transistors onto processors, for the simple reason - TINY ALSO HAS A LIMIT, you can’t shrink something to non. Now operating quite literally on an atomic level. By  2013 transistor nodes width had reached to around 50 silicon atoms (22 nanometres), and presently this figure has reduced further. Sooner we’ll have transistor nodes so narrow that electrons may be able to leak across them through the process known as quantum tunneling, resulting into  computational errors. There ends the validity of Moore’s Law .

Being replaced with new principle, called Nielsen’s law – applied to network bandwidth. It’s about doubling yearly growth of fastest Internet connections. ( Discuss in Subsequent Post )
